A. REQLIEST:
A Resolution authorizing County(via R& D)to enter into agreement with the Hawaii Tourism Authority to
establish a 3 year mutual agreement on roles and responsibilities of each party during the implementaiton
phase of the Flawail Island Destination Management Action Plan.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION(USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes§46-7, the County may enter into agreements with 'any public body"
with the consent of Council, R&0 is requesting that Council approve a resolution authori:dng R& D to enter
into an agreement with the i-lawail Tourism Authority, a public body, for the purposes of-establishing a
mutual agreement on roles and responsibilities during the Hawaii island Destination Management Plan
(DMAP) implementation phase, pursuant to HCC 2-139(3)(0.
The DMAP contains specific actions and sub-actions that address the goals and objectives of the Hawaii
Island Tourism Strategic Plan. The purpose of the DMAP is to reset, rebuild and redefine tourism on the
island, engage and collaborate-with the public private and community sectors, and improve current, and
develop new,tourism products and offerings.
This agreement is for three years, 2022-2025 and funds will not be exchanged between the parties.
