Re: Resolution for multi-year lease '
The Office of Housing and Community Development wishes to lease approximately
11,853 square feet of real property located at 34 Rainbow Drive, Hilo, County and State
of Hawai`i, known as the Old Hilo Hospital Complex, identified as Tax Map Key (3)2-3-
026:008 to HOPE Services Hawai`i, Inc. This location will be used as an assessment
center and emergency shelter.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County to enter into an 18-year lease with an
option for three (3) additional five (5)year terms, with HOPE Services Hawai`i, Inc. The ,
anticipated rent shall be $10 per year.
We respectfully request that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee and
be placed on the-March 9, 2022 Council agenda in order to expedite this process. If there

The County currently hos an Executive Order with the State of Hawaii to manage and utilize the proper€y for.

and will be paid at the first of every July. The lease agreement will include option for three (3) additional five
year terms. The rent for the additional term period will be"a $10.00 annual payment and will be paid on

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
