Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 619, reports as follows:
Communication No. 619, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated February 1, 2022,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the nomination of Laurisa Nishimoto of
Council District 5 to the Liquor Commission.
Executive Assistant Pomaika`i Bartolome was present in Council Chambers in Hilo to introduce
the nominee, who attended via zoom.
Several Council Members commented in favor of the appointment and Chair Inaba stated that
confirmation before Council would take place in two weeks and that the nominee is
recommended to attend.
Pursuant to Sections 7-3.2 and 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Liquor
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 619, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Laurisa Nishimoto
to the Liquor Commission.
