Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit,to which was referred Communication No. 614,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 614, transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated February 1, 2022,
nominates Matthew Terlep of Council District 1 to the Transportation Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, P6maika`i Bartolome, introduced the nominee. Mr. Terlep has been a
Hawaii Island resident for 25 years. He is a graduate of Konawaena High School and tirelessly
volunteers with numerous organizations to give back to the community.
Council Member Heather Kimball stated Mr. Terlep comes with a glowing recommendation. Council
Member Ashley Kierkiewicz also appreciated the nominee's connection to the island and his extensive
experience with transportation issues.
Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Communication No. 614, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Matthew Terlep to the
Transportation Commission.
