RESOLUTION NO. 34S 22
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
TWELVE (12) BUSES FROM THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation
Services is donating twelve (12) 1997 40-foot Gilling Phantom buses to the County of
Hawaii's Mass Transit Agency; and
WHEREAS, the buses will be used to provide island-wide public transportation
within the County of Hawaii;.and
WHEREAS, the estimated value of this donation is $50,000; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance,may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii's Mass Transit Agency recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Roger Morton, Director, Department of Transportation Services,
City and County of Honolulu, Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building, 650 South King Street,
Third Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813-3017.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Mass transit Agency, the Department of Finance, and the Office of the
Mayor.
