I
My name is Thesla Spencer and I am testifying in strong support of Bill 101 relating to
HICDC's Hale Ola O Mohouli Housing Project.
I am a participant in HICDC's self-help development program and without these types of
programs I would not have been able to afford owning my own home. As a single parent, my
dream was to be able to give my children a forever home and building a home from the ground
up has been so rewarding for my'ohana.
Hawai'i Island is facing a housing crisis and I strongly urge you to support the efforts of Keith
Kato and HICDC to provide affordable housing for our island. This bill would allow kama 'ainaqq
affordably remain here on Hawaii island. Please vote yes on Bill 101 and keep our families
living and thriving on Hawai'i island. -MCD
