Subject: Bill 106 protect Volcano's natural and cultural resources
Aloha committee members,
As a land owner in Volcano Golf Course area and as an advocate for smart growth and protection of our stressed
natural and cultural resources, I have concerns about land in the Volcano area being rezoned to commercial. As much
as I support some commercial growth in the village, the last episode(clearing for Ace Hardware and associated
buildings)was an,unnecessary disaster and now a blight on the forest. It was apparently done without forethought nor
a cohesive community plan that could help prevent the sprawl which is already set up to occur on the frontage road.
I'm not sure of the exact plan proposed for this site and apologize for coming to the party late, but I'm hoping that
committee members will ascertain that the natural resources on the land in question will be duly protected and that the
plan for commercializing this spot will add to, rather than subtract from, the overall well-being of a world-class
natural area that has the potential to be developed in a beautiful, useful, financially viable and sensitive way.
Mahalo and sincerely, C.>
