Aloha,
I feel compelled to comment on the proposed Bill#119(606), regarding the East HI Animal Control Facilities and Renovation project.
So many challenges that need to be addressed before we throw money at a failed system. As a rescue volunteer, I have been
watching with interest and concern as we fail our community. We have complex problems to address with over population, dog
fighting rings, animal theft, illegal breeding, animal attacks, lost and found issues, etc. There are well established animal
organizations(like A.S.P.C.A)that we can learn from and use as a model for a new facility. I know you are aware of the numerous
criticisms about the way animal control iunurnent|ybeing operated. They obvioudyneed more employees, apubUcfaciUtyfor people
togotoand vievvanimals, apublic postin8oflost,found and deceased pets and better medical care for injured animals. |twould be
nice to have a team of people dedicated to education and a sol.id adoption program. There are terrific people in this community that
would love to volunteer to make these dreams come true. WE NEED MORE TRANSPARENCYH Please take more time to investigate
possibilities and solve the problems that exist before you spend money on a temporary solution.
Moha|ofor your consideration.
Sincerely,
Diana Rojas-Nasvik
