Dear Council Members,
My name is Diane Ware. I live in Volcano and I own an EV. I am trying to do my duty to lessen my carbon footprint. I assumed that I
would be able to access a number of charging stations around the island but this has proved false.A quick review of HELCO's own
website on any given day reveals the long standing infrequent serviceability of a majority of its'charging stations'.Why is this
acceptable to'regulators'?
I have also been foiled by HELCO to find out by phone,website,and Greenlots online how I can register to get a card to access
charging stations. I have given up and therefore rely exclusively on my home 11.0 outlet, my car dealership in Hilo and Chargepoint
card for Target for charging. Driving to Kona and back is iffy if I need a charge so I rarely attempt driving there. I only once was able
to charge in Na'alehu (Helco). It took me 20 minutes to link up with someone by phone to accept my credit card.Another person
waiting for me to charge was very upset and the whole process was disconcerting. I have seen some Helco charge points such as
Kea'au that seem out of order but with no notice.
Do we need a LAW to make them maintain their own charge point stations?
On another matter I am very concerned about biomass processing and burning for electricity. I have read Sierra Club and other
sources on this so called renewable source and agree with their views that each situation must have an independent environmental
review including emissions, health affects and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.
