Has there been any follow-up to the Finance Committee Meeting Reports by Finance and Parks and Rec on
November 3? I know there are other non-profit groups waiting for their money to care for the 2%Lands. Now it's 2
years and 2 months since voters approved these ballot measures and nothing has been done.
If you remember, Finance Department Chair Deana Sako said she would expedite grants that are now in the care of
the Finance Department. Citizens have been using their own money. Remember if the $3 million cap has been
reached, the money goes back to the General Fund. Has this been done? or are the grants still bogged down in Parks
and Rec?
What about hiring some to work on the 2% Land Fund program? The Public Access, Open Space and Natural
Resources Commission needs help and they are considering twice per year submissions for maintenance Fund Grants
and for acquisitions. They are also considering returning to meetings once per month as stipulated in their rules.
Mahalo for your service.
