Subject: OPPOSE Bills 112 & 115 - PLEASE
Aloha County Council Members,
I am testifying against Bill 112 and Bill 115. I do not support the passing of this bill.
As expected, these bills raise questions and concerns which I have for many shoreline developments.
This development clearly supports the continuation of increasing tourism, transient residents and offshore investors
during the time our community voices over tourism issues, natural resource concerns and the extreme lack of
affordable housing. This rezoning would increase water usage by over a million gallons a month & over 200,000
gallons per day in a very dry and hot location when you add up all the units and multiply it by the average 2 person
household unit using 5,000 gallons per month.
How can this be okay or make sense unless you're a developer who stands to profit?!
This rezoning doesn't support climate change and the rising of our ocean. It also doesn't address our affordable
housing crisis that the working lower/middle class is experiencing nor does it address being catastrophically
prepared. How can supporting growth that will still require local residents to DRIVE long miles to service the area
make sense? It doesn't! It continues to foster plans that further initiate negative cultural and environmental impact.
The real red flag is the trade off mentality of"grant me this rezoning, and I will donate this much to
charity". PLEASE STOP THIS TYPE SICK FAUX "HELPFUL" DEALINGS. An estimated $45 million dollars
towards a charitable foundation that Waikoloa Land Company created naturally benefits as a tax deduction through
their own Waikoloa Foundation. What a joke. Who's this supposed to be kidding?
The Hawaiian trails and anchialine ponds need to be protected by law and it is their Kuleana to uphold is s ed
area they have developed on or near.
Please reject this rezoning. It does less damage as a golf course. #
