Her father, the late Mr, Ron Boeddeker, established the Waikoloa Foundation in 1987 to help steward the precious cultural and environmental attributes that make Hawai i unique. I've come to learn that the Foundation's focus includes: • Protecting and restoring historical and cultural sites. • Preserving Waik-clioa's natural resources- • Empowering Hawai'i's future for generations through education and community initiatives. Waikoloa and its many partners have assisted in providing this focus for decades by leading responsible tourism efforts on the Kohala Coast with sustainable development to protect HawaiTs unique ecosystem,The Kumu Hou project will continue to support this effort by establishing a lasting endowment for the Waikoloa Foundation by contributing a percentage of the proceeds from each timeshare sale to the Foundation's endowment, estimated to be as much as S50 million during the life of the project. Part of Waikoloa's plan to meet the needs of the Big Island community is to create workforce rental housing for people to live in the Resort where they work.A parcel at Waikoloa Beach Resort has been identified for this, and I understand that discussions with a well-established local workforce housing developer have been ongoing for m any months, with a letter of intent signed. This is a truly unique endeavor and shows Waikoioa's commitment to the Big island community and its people. Kumu lou is about a v"ision Mr, Ron Boeddeker had over 40 years ago,of being good stewards of the land and providing for a sustainable future in tourism for Hawaii, while maintaining and enhancing the lifestyle and livelihood of its people and preserving HawaiTs culture. I humbly ask Ohat you see the value and investrnprit Kumu Hou provides for generation Hawai'i's peopl- to live, work and play on the South Kohala Coast. Sincerely, David A.
