Subject: Testimony in strong support of Kumu Hou
Aloha Hawaii County Council Planning Committee Chair, Ashley Kierkiewicz &the Hawaii County Council at large,
My name is Chelsea Kwiat and I am a Hawaii Island resident. My family has lived and worked on Hawaii Island for
20 years. I am currently the cottage manager of Lava Lava Beach Club and I am very familiar with Waikoloa
Land and the Kumu Hou Project. I have read and fully support the Kumu Hou project. The Kumu Hou project will
provide affordable housing that is very much needed for the kama'aina that work in the resort areas. The housing
prices have gone up dramatically in recent years and has caused great difficulty for many. It is essential to Hawaii
Island residents and businesses that affordable housing is provided.
I was also impressed with the project's plans to include walking trails, parks, and a cultural education facility. This
will be wonderful for both the kama'aina and our visitors.
