Reliable chargers are a key ingredient to EV adoption, and EV adoption is key to slowing the climate crisis. The legislature in its wisdom failed to include an enforcement mechanism, thus we see large commercial parking lots without the legally required chargers. We need enforcement to create the EV charging network needed. I have a Nissan Leaf. I mostly charge it at home, but when I need to charge it in town I cannot rely on a functioning charger to be available. (I'm not trying to embarass any one company, but it is ironic and telling that the EV chargers at the electric company's office usually don't work! ) i For a lower income family who cannot install a charger at home or live in a rental unit, such public charging options are crucial to even consider EVs. The ability to choose an EV avoids the cost of gas forever! Thus it is an economic justice issue as well as an environmental one.
