Aloha,
My name is Hilary Smith and I live in Hilo. My husband and I live in a condo building where we cannot charge our
electric car. We want to be pono for the environment but it is a nightmare to find public charging around Hilo. Even
the chargers at the county building and DMV are always out of order! We need way more public charging stations,
and they need to be maintained in good working order, otherwise we have no chance of convincing people to switch
to electric cars.
Electric cars are good for the island--they are quiet, clean, and do less damage to roads and waterways. But until we
give people a reliable way to charge, we will be stuck with noisy, polluting gas cars for years to come.
