From: John Weist Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2022 7:17 PM To: Council Testimony Subject: Support for Bill 120 I reside on the Big Island in the Kau district and purchased an EV just one year ago. I very much like my EV and know many other people that would like to buy a BEV. They are however hesitant because of the need for a much improved charging structure for the island. The majority of chargers on this island only charge at a mere 20 mph. I live 60 miles from Hilo so I would have to charge for 3 hours just to return home. We need the faster DC chargers for which there are only 7 on the entire island. One in Hilo (which is broken more than it is working), One in Kona and then a few scattered around the perimeter of the island. In short to improve the EV situation on the Big Island we need: I More DC chargers for people on the go. Better maintenance of the chargers. Currently more than 50% of the level 2 chargers in Hilo are broken and have been so for many months. One for more than a year. Enforcement of parking in EV spaces by vehicles not actually charging. Thank you for voting in support of Bill 120. A yes vote for this bill will be a win for everyone! { Aloha, _ John Weist 00 zip: 96777 `rte NO i : i 3 Comm. No. e'91. To: ReF. Date F7 F. 2022 1
