3 <br /> Y <br /> I <br /> JN�Y OF N�+g. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIIISTATE OF HAWAPI <br /> i <br /> °°T J °• <br /> i}E OF°HP� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 372 22 <br /> 3 <br /> 3 <br /> I <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MOKU `O HAWAII I <br /> OUTRIGGER CANOE RACING ASSOCIATION TO HIRE SECURITY WHEN <br /> CONDUCTING ITS PROGRAMS AT HILO BAYFRONT BEACH PARK. <br /> 3 <br /> WHEREAS, Moku `O Hawaii Outrigger Canoe Racing Association is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote, encourage, maintain, and perpetuate ! <br /> authentic Hawaiian canoe racing; to foster the preservation of the Hawaiian koa canoe and its <br /> components of Hawaiian woods in the State of Hawaii; and to participate nationally and/or <br /> internationally whenever possible; and j <br /> WHEREAS,there has been an increase in concern for the safety of club paddlers, <br /> especially the children, at the Hilo Bayfront Beach park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Moku `O Hawaii Outrigger Canoe Racing Association is requesting <br /> funds to hire security for the health and safety of the paddlers when conducting its programs at <br /> Hilo Bayfront Beach park; and <br /> f <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations and <br /> programs that are compatible with its mission to provide diversified recreational programs that <br /> address the needs and interests of the respective communities in a safe environment with zero <br /> tolerance for illegal drugs and violence; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Moku `O Hawaii Outrigger Canoe Racing <br /> Association to hire security when conducting its programs at Hilo Bayfront Beach park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
