: <br /> OJMSY OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STA'L'E OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 373 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br /> FUTURE FOR ITS FOOD RESCUE COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions <br /> harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawaii and encourages each person to <br /> contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)pandemic, <br /> Friends of the Future has established a community feeding program for the vulnerable <br /> populations in Waimea by enhancing its food rescue program; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is collaborating with local, certified restaurants and <br /> grocery stores to provide free or discounted food and quality prepared meals to those in need to <br /> create a healthier and safer community in Waimea; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds for expenses related to its food <br /> rescue community feeding program, including purchases of food and supplies required for meal <br /> preparation, serving, distribution, and cleanup; and <br /> WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Research and Development's <br /> mission to support the development of a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance <br /> with Hawai`i's ecology, community character, and cultural heritage; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for its food rescue <br /> community feeding program for the vulnerable populations in Waimea. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
