i <br /> Of y�h. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAFI <br /> ryE oF'w�'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 376 -22- <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE PAHOA LAVA <br /> ZONE MUSEUM TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR LEI AND COMMEMORATIVE <br /> GIFTS FOR GRADUATESOF PUNA HIGH SCHOOLS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays <br /> cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of <br /> lower Puna, contributing to the revitalization of downtown Pahoa and the surrounding <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, graduation ceremonies are community events that celebrate and honor the <br /> hard work and successes of graduating seniors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum coordinated donations to purchase caps and <br /> gowns for graduating seniors and through that discovered many students do not receive a lei on <br /> graduation day; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds to defray the cost of <br /> materials to make lei and small commemorative gifts for students graduating from high schools <br /> in Puna; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that <br /> promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and <br /> drug-free events such as graduation ceremonies; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum to assist with expenses for lei <br /> and commemorative gifts for graduates of Puna High Schools. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
