To whom it may concern,
I have been a resident on Hawaii, Big Island for nearly 38 years. I've watched this Island
grow substantially in population and productivity, i.e.: Resorts, timeshare
accommodations, RB&B, etc. But in this new economical era, I've also watched families
move off island or to the mainland due to living costs and job availabilities. Now that the
jobs are somewhat starting to return, the housing cost have skyrocketed, thus making it
difficult for families to justify taking on these jobs. Any relief in this area would be a
God-send without any doubt. If Kumu Hou at Waikoloa is willing to invest in some
affordable housing then by all means this opportunity should be accepted.
I am but just a resort employee, but I've witnessed all too much of a migration off the
.,load due to the lack of afforcl-lble
housing If done with care and concern which I
believe Kumu Hou will provide, it's a no-trainer to add more affordable housing to the
Kohala Coast. It's a win-win for all involved. It is my understanding that Waikoloa Land
Company and The Waikoloa Foundation are committed to this project, and from what
personal opportunities they have made for many, many families on this Island from the
very beginning, there is no uncertainty that their dedication to the preservation and
history of the Kohala Coast is in very good hands.
Please do not turn down this wonderful opportunity that is laid out before you. Thank
