Kimball,Vice Chair Wednesday, March 9, 2022, 9:00 AM Hawaii County Building, Hilo, Hawaii Re: Testimony in SUPPORT of Resolution 334-22—COMMITS TO FUNDING THE COST ITEMS AGREED UPON BY THE EMPLOYER AND UPW FOR BARGAINING UNIT 1 BETWEEN JULY 1,2021 AND JUNE 30,2025 Chair Kanealii-Kleinfelder,Vice Chair Kimball, and Members of Committee: The United Public Workers, AFSCME Local 646, AFL-CIO ("UPW") is the exclusive bargaining representative for approximately 14,000 public employees, which includes blue collar, non- supervisory employees in Bargaining Unit 1 and institutional, health, and correctional employees in Bargaining Unit 10, in the State of Hawaii and various counties.The UPW also represents 1,500 members in the private sector. UPW strongly supports Resolution 334-22,which approves the cost items for the Bargaining Unit 1 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Employer and UPW for the fiscal period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2025 for included employees of the County of Kauai. The approval of this bill will help to ensure that our Bargaining Unit 1 members in the County of Hawaii will receive the necessary funding for the respective cost items in this new agreement.
