RE: Needed Funding for:
Kahakai Subdivisions (Beaches, Parks, Shores, Shores Rec) J~
Resources to combat increasing crime in the area
I am offering written testimony as to our needs to help our community "help
itself'. Our neighborhoods within the Kahakai strip of subdivisions in Pahoa
are in desperate need, the criminal activity is worst than I have seen in my 27
years. Drugs, squatting, theft, vandalism, and even threats are common.
Squatters on drugs are burning down homes, car thefts are resulting in
dumping and burning. Mailboxes are being raiding and delivered packages
stolen from porches. We have illegal aerial fireworks being set off right within
the neighborhoods, yet of the dangerous pyro tech types. The list goes on.
We all know our district lacks funding for ample amount of police officers to
properly patrol and maintain the area, as it is growing faster and faster.
However, with some financial help, we can work with our Community Police
Officer's to help curtail the criminal activity we are experiencing.
We recently started a new Neighborhood Watch Group (all subdivisions
included both sides of Kahakai Blvd). We are in our infancy, but moving
swiftly considering it has only been a few months. We would like to thank you
for the financial support that we plan to use for surveillance in the most
needed areas. We are committed to taking back our "once safe"
neighborhoods and willing to do the work to accomplish it.
Sincerely, f
