Regarding Resolution 337-22, Supporting An Independent Ukraine and Condemning Russian Military Assault:
Arguably, I believe wars are fought for economic reasons less than the defense of national boundaries. I also applaud
and support any peoples rights to defend themselves, their families and life in general.
However, anyone aware of the history of these Hawaiian Islands and the need for transparency and truth speaking, in
government representation should find the resolution offered by career focused politicians to be hypocritical to say the
least, self serving assuming the worst. I could not let the hypocrisy go by unmentioned and so I support an
amendment to the councils suggested resolution regarding Ukraine. If you deplore imperialism, colonialism and just
plain bullying, then let's talk about it as it relates to Hawaii, our home.

RESOLUTION NO.
NO
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN INDEPENDENT HAWAIIAN KINGDOM AND CONDEMNING UNITED STATES
ASSAULT AND CONTINUED OCCUPATION.
WHEREAS,on January 16, 1893,the United States of America("the US")launched an unprovoked military invasion on the
sovereign Hawaiian Kingdom; and
WHEREAS,the Hawaiian Kingdom is a country,rich in unique history,vibrant culture and natural resources;and is seen as a key
stronghold in preventing further US aggression across Oceania and Asia; and
WHEREAS,there is a long history of US aggression and genocide against the Hawaiian Kingdom, including the US's continued
illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom; and
WHEREAS,the US has engaged in land theft and implemented structural systems of racism and dispossession,upending the lives of
the kanaka maoli,forcing many of them to flee their homeland,or become houseless,which,in turn,has led to disproportionately high
rates of incarceration, suicide,heart disease,diabetes,addiction and despair; and
WHEREAS,the 24th US President Grover Cleveland stated that the military demonstration upon the soil of Honolulu was itself an act
of war; and
WHEREAS,the 42nd US President William Clinton acknowledged that the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii occurred with the
active participation of agents and citizens of the United States,and further acknowledged that the Native Hawaiian people never
directly relinquished to the United States their claims to their inherent sovereignty as a people over their national lands, either through
the Kingdom of Hawaii or through a plebiscite or referendum; and
WHEREAS,the Hawaiian Kingdom was recognized as a sovereign nation by the US on December 23, 1826 and July 6, 1844; and by
Great Britain and France on November 28, 1843.As a result of the recognition of Hawaiian independence,the Hawaiian Kingdom
entered into treaties with the major nations of the world and established over 130 legations and consulates in multiple seia�ports and

cities including Austria-Hungary;Belgium,Bremen,Demark,France,Germany, Great Britain,Hamburg,Italy,Japan, ,Luxembourg

Netherlands,New South Wales,Portugal,Russia, Samoa, Spain, Sweden and the US; and
WHEREAS,the k5naka maoli have continued to defend their home country and precious ecosystems with extraordinary resolve
against their Goliath-like occupier,through non-violent peaceful actions; and
WHEREAS,the Hawaiian Kingdom needs support to protect their homeland from this hostile invasion, and will need support to
recover from the abuses and atrocities committed by the US;now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it proclaims its support for the Hawaiian
Kingdom and its citizens,and denounces the US invasion,occupation and genocide against the Hawaiian people.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii County Council supports the Hawaiian Kingdom's right to be free, independent and
to defend its territorial integrity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council strongly supports the Hawaiian Kingdom in exerting pressure on the United
States of America to provide the Hawaiian Kingdom with recompense, including:
• Ending the United States' occupation of the Hawaiian Islands, including the termination of all land leases to the US military;
•Denuclearizing Hawai'i;
•Implementation of aggressive sanctions on the US;
•Complete and immediate removal of the Red Hill fuel tanks which are positioned only 100 feet above Oahu's main aquifer;
• Banning all US military ships from all Hawaiian ports, and all military aircraft from Hawai'i airports;
• Withdrawal of army,navy,marines, air force, space force,coast guard and special operations troops from Hawaii,as well as a
withdrawal of all military bases and installations,returning them to the proper title owners in good condition and free of any
contamination;
• Banning all research,testing and deployment of missiles, satellites and experimental weapons;
• Cease all military practice on Hawaiian lands,in Hawaiian waters, in Hawaiian skies and in the heavens above Hawaii.
• Return all government lands to the Hawaiian Kingdom, and all Crown lands and private lands to the proper title owners;
•Deployment of financial, medical,monetary and humanitarian assistance to the Hawaiian Kingdom;
• Compensation for the Hawaiian Kingdom for all damages suffered as a result of US aggression and occupation;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii County Council supports all measures to ensure that the Hawaiian Kingdom's
governing, economic and social reforms prevail.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to Joseph Biden,President of the United
States of America;Kamala Harris,Vice-President of the United States;Antony Blinken,US Secretary of State,Lloyd Austin,US
Secretary of Defense;John C.Aquilino,Commander of the Indo-Pacific Command;US Senator Mazie Hirono;US Senator Brian
Schatz;US Representative Ed Case; US Representative Kai Kahele;Hawai'i Governor David Ige;and County of Hawaii Mayor
Mitchell Roth.
