Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 693, reports as follows:
Communication No. 693, transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated March 17, 2022,
nominates Chantee Shiroma of Council District 3 to the County of Hawaii Cost of Government
Commission. If confirmed, Ms. Shiroma will serve a term to end December 31, 2022.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor P6maika`i Bartolome introduced the nominee. Ms. Shiroma also
provided a brief description of her background.
Per Committee Member Susan L. K. Lee Loy's request, Ms. Shiroma confirmed that she is able to
commit to the commission meetings. Assistant Corporation Counsel J Yoshimoto clarified that
commission meetings are twice a month.
Committee Member Herbert M. "Tim"Richards III emphasized the importance of asking Council
Members questions as they arise in consideration of the commission's short-term span.
Pursuant to Section 5-2.2, Hawaii County Charter,there shall be a Cost of Government Commission
while shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 693, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Chantee Shiroma to the County of Hawaii Cost of
Government Commission.
