No. 358-22 3 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 2:12 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> I <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 358-22, reports as follows: j <br /> Resolution No. 358-22, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 701 3 <br /> dated March 17, 2022, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United <br /> States Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br /> a <br /> Federally-derived funds of$4,462,000 would be used to support projects related to the mitigation of <br /> natural disasters and other hazards defined in the 2020 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> Per Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz's request, Planning Director Zendo Kern provided an <br /> overview of the mitigation plan and the projects to be fulfilled by the funding. Mr. Kern then stated <br /> that Planning would look to other funding sources for projects in the plan currently without funding. <br /> Per Committee Member Herbert M. "Tim" Richards III's request, Ms. Sako clarified the fiscal <br /> background of the measure. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Mr. Kern if the funding is specific to low-income <br /> areas.
