Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 359-22, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 359-22, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 702
dated March 17, 2022, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal
year for a multi-year license agreement of real property for the County of Hawaii Department of Parks
and Recreation with the St. Jude's Episcopal Church located at 92-8606 Paradise Circle, Hawaiian
Ocean View Estates, in Ka`u, Hawaii.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year license agreement with an approximate
monthly cost of$475. The property would be used for the department's Elderly Activity and Nutrition
Congregate Meal programs.
Per Committee Member Maile Medeiros David's request, Parks and Recreation Elderly Activities
Operations Director Roann Okamura provided background on the measure.
Assistant Corporation Counsel J Yoshimoto provided positive comments on the resolution and requested
the Committee's support.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease, or other obligation requiring the
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year shall be made or approved by resolution
by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 359-22, and
recommends its adoption.
