ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Chair Mr. Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Vice Chair (videoconference from Hilo) Ms. Maile Medeiros David, Member Ms. Ashley L. Kierkiewicz, Member Ms. Heather L. Kimball, Member Ms. Susan L. K. Lee Loy, Member Mr. Herbert M. "Tim" Richards, III, Member Ms. Rebecca Villegas, Member Absent & Excused: Mr. Aaron S. Y. Chung, Member STATEMENTS The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business, FROM THE Statements from the Public on Agenda Items. PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS: (There were none.) CHR. INABA: Mahalo. At this time I'm closing public testimony, and I'd also like to state that this is the 26' meeting of the Committee of Parks and Recreation and Public Safety. So with that Mr. Clerk, if we can move on with the agenda. COMMUNI- The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business, CATIONS: Communications. Comm. 176.12: REQUESTS A PRESENTATION OF THE MARCH 2022 HAWEO AWARD TO JOHNATHAN RAPOZA, POLICE OFFICER — HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT From Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba, dated February 24, 2022. Motion to Close File: Ms. Kierkiewicz moved to close file on Comm. 176.12. Seconded by Ms. Lee Loy. PRPSC-26 CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION: March 22, 2022 CHR. INABA: Again, good morning to our HPD `ohana here. If you'd like to come up to the table, this is an award for Mr. Johnathan Rapoza. And I'd ask our leadership from the Hawaii Police Department if you would please introduce the awardee, and the reason for him being selected as this month's Haweo Award recipient. And you can please just click on your mic, and introduce yourself. (Note: At this time, the March 2022 HAWEO Award was presented to Johnathan Rapoza, Police Officer Hawaii Police Department, in recognition of going above and beyond the call of duty. Police Captain Scott Amaral came forward and provided statements regarding his exceptional activities in service to the community. Chair Inaba provided a celebratory Hawaiian Chant.) CHR. INABA: Mahalo nui. And we're going to just close out this communication and this meeting. And then we'd love to take some photos with you. So we have a motion on the floor to close file on Communication 176.12. All those in favor, please say "aye."
