HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 380 Draft 01 2020-2022A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WAIĀKEA HIGH SCHOOL
PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE 2022 WAIĀKEA HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS, Waiākea High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a subordinate unit of PTA Hawai‘i Congress, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, Waiākea High School PTSA assists Waiākea High School and its students with programs and activities, including Project Grad Night; and
WHEREAS, the Waiākea High School Project Grad Night provides a safe, secure, and supervised celebration as an alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve underage
drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late-night partying that normally results in drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the community; and
WHEREAS, this alcohol- and drug-free event provides the parents and families of the graduates with peace of mind knowing that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment after
graduation; and
WHEREAS, Waiākea High School PTSA is requesting funds to defray the costs related to Project Grad Night events; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control’s goals is to support programs that promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and drug-free
events such as graduation ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Waiākea High School Parent Teacher Student Association for the 2022 Waiākea High School Project Grad Night.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
