AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11 OF THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING PRODUCTION FUNDING.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I:
SECTION 1. Chapter 11, of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), is amended by adding a new article to read as follows:
“Article 2. Housing Production Funding.
“Section 11-21. Appropriation of funds for housing production.
At least $5,000,000 per year shall be appropriated for the Office of Housing and Community Development to facilitate programs that support affordable housing production. Any remaining
balance at the end of the fiscal year should be designated for this purpose.”
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect other provisions
or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
