Chung Bills 112 and 115—Applicant:Waikoloa Land Company Wednesday,April 6, 2022 9:00 A.M. Aloha Chair David,Vice Chair Chung and Council Members: Pacific Resource Partnership (PRP) is a non-profit market recovery trust fund which represents approximately 7,000 men and women union carpenters and 240 large and small contractors. With our expertise in research, compliance, marketing, and project advocacy, we are committed to building a stronger, more sustainable Hawaii in a way that promotes a vibrant economy, creates jobs, and enhances the quality of life for all residents of Hawaii. PRP strongly supports Bills 112 and 115 relating to the change of zone for Kumu Hou at Waikoloa. This project will significantly impact Hawaii Island—and all who live here—and the developer has gone above and beyond to prioritize the community's needs and input from the County Council. Waikoloa Land Company has a proven record of stewardship in West Hawaii, and they are committed to protecting the island's natural resources. They understand the value of water and land and have advanced numerous conversations to ensure their plan is informed by experts and critical community input. Waikoloa Land Company's commitment to the community is strong, as we've seen in their desire to find ways to support The Waikoloa Foundation—which is dedicated to advancing education, environmental stewardship, and culture for the benefit of Hawaii Island residents and visitors—and to create affordable housing opportunities for the community. The plans they are putting forward today could benefit the community for generations to come. The developer has not only spoken to community members, leaders, and organizations, but they have also incorporated feedback from the Leeward Planning Commission before taking on the added requests from the County Council. They continue to consider and incorporate the community's thoughts, ideas, and concerns showing that they truly care about the surrounding communities. As such, we respectfully request your favorable decision on this project. Thank you for this opportunity to submit written testimony. Comm. NO. Gi ef.
