Dear Sir/Madam:
I'm writing as a resident of Ocean View, HI, to support bill 125 regarding vicious dog attacks. This has been a
problem for years with packs of feral and/or disowned dogs and it appears to be getting even worse. We cannot walk
our own leashed dog in our neighborhood without risking some type of confrontation with either wild dogs or dogs
that owners have failed to keep fenced in. The lack of responsibility on the part of pet owners in this part of Hawaii is
like nothing I've ever experienced in any part of the U.S,that I've lived previously.
In addition, in the case of packs of wild dogs, it has been common to see them enter properties that have not been
adequately fortified. This puts at risk the safety and lives of adults, children, and pets and practically necessitates that
property owners arm themselves against such attacks.
It is a huge relief to hear that legislation is in the works to address this very real danger to both human beings and pets
alike.
