This is Mel Behasa, Senior Vice commander of the Disabled American Veterans { DAV) Chapter 7. I am also a member of the Honor Guard doing military services at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. It has been a busy year for us. Many of the deceased veterans are Vietnam War Veterans or Vietnam Era Veterans. Many are members of our Chapters and Posts. We are frequently asked by family members and Veterans, why there is no Vietnam War Memorial. We always assumed there was going to be one someday. One Veteran expressed to us at a recent funeral that he hopes there is a Vietnam War Memorial before he passes. Many of us are in our 70's and 80's, and agree that we would like to see one in our lifetime. I am in favor of Res. 355-22 introduced by Councilman Holeka Inaba.
