Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation of a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport from the
State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation Highways Division. This vehicle, valued
at approximately $21,407.15, will be utilized by the Department of Finance, Vehicle
Registration and Licensing Division Commercial Driver License staff.
We respectfully request that this resolution be waived from Finance Committee and be
placed on the May 4, 2022 Council agenda in order to expedite this transaction. If there
are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Naomi O'Dell of the Department of
Finance's Vehicle Registration and Licensing Division at 961-8021.

Request to acquire ownership of donated property from the Department of Transportation Highways Division,
Hawaii District: (1) 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division would like to accept the donation of a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport
from the Department of Transportation Highways Division for the CDL section. This vehicle will be used to
travel between the Hilo and Kona district for daily operations and to supplement staff shortages as
necessary. The vehicle that was previously being used for this purpose is not a reliable or safe mode of
transportation.
The estimated value of the vehicle is $21,407.15.

RE: RESOLUTION NO. 392-22 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF ONE (1) 2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT TO
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
