A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME HAWAI‘I
TO SUPPORT ITS REENTRY AND RECOVERY HOUSING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to reintegrate former offenders into the community and the workplace; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i works in collaboration with more than 50 public and private entities to provide a variety of support services to former offenders, including housing, case
management, and referrals to mental health and/or substance abuse treatment programs; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i’s community-based Reentry and Recovery Housing Program provides services for male or female offenders with reintegration into community life through employment,
housing, education, and appropriate services; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is requesting funds to assist with operational costs associated with its community-based Reentry and Recovery Housing Program; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to support programs that improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively
with other criminal justice agencies and the community by employing early intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life on Hawai‘i Island; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide
a grant to Going Home Hawai‘i for its community-based Reentry and Recovery Housing Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
