Aloha,
I ask the county council committee of finance to please increase funding and prioritize programs in the recycling
section of DEM. I want to see my tax dollars go towards program that divert resources away from the wasteful
practices of landfilling.
It's time we start respecting our island and creating a better future for generations to come. Something as simple as
recycling can create huge and wonderful changes. Our landfills are only getting fuller and there's no turning back
once plastic and trash end up there. It will take hundreds of years before we see this trash (that can be recycled and
used for greater purposes) decompose.
It breaks my heart every time I have to throw recycling in the trash just because there's no other option. It's absolutely
absurd. Other states do not allow this so why are we? Please help, for the future of our beloved island. We can do this.
