I'm writing to support and increase funding for the the recycling section of the Department of Environmental
Management on Hawai'i Island. I would like my tax dollars to support waste diversion and reduction programs rather
than the continued used of landfills. It's a waste of money and space to keep landfilling when we could divert waste
and keep our land from becoming a dump. Many people on the island want to live more environmentally consciously
than is current supported and will be willing to pay for a solution to our waste problem.
Please consider how recycling and waste diversion could benefit our community.
