No. 713 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:44 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 713, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 713, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated March 28, 2022, <br /> nominates Babette Morrow to the Ka`u Community Development Plan Action Committee <br /> (CDPAC). <br /> Ms. Pomaika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, was present via Zoom to <br /> introduce Ms. Morrow. She explained that Ms. Morrow earned her Bachelor's degree in <br /> Sociology from the University of Maryland, a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning <br /> from the University of Colorado at Denver, and is certified by the American Association of <br /> Certified Planners, Zoning Official, and City Planner in the city of Littleton, Colorado. She <br /> offers more than 30 years of experience writing and implementing city zoning codes and <br /> community development plans. Ms. Morrow has been a member of'0 Ka`u Kakou (OKK) for <br /> 10 years and currently serves on their board of directors. She hopes to continue her service with <br /> leaders in the Ka`u community. If confirmed, she will serve a term ending December 31, 2025. <br /> Ms. Morrow was present before Your Committee in the Kona Chambers and spoke of her <br /> appreciation for the work that went into creating the Ka`u CDP and the Action Committee. She <br /> shared that she has lived in Ka`u since 2004 and has enjoyed working with the County and <br /> Council Members throughout her years of community work. <br /> Committee Member Maile David thanked Ms. Morrow for all of the contributions she's made to <br /> the Ka`u CDP and her work to uplift community and voiced her support for Ms. Morrow. <br /> Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz highlighted Ms. Morrow's background and experience in <br /> community planning would serve the CDPAC well. <br /> The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation and passed with nine "ayes." <br /> PC Report No.: 57 <br />
