Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 712, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 712, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated March 28, 2022,
nominates Leina`ala Enos to the Ka`u Community Development Plan Action Committee
(CDPAC).
Ms. Pomaika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, was present via Zoom to
introduce Ms. Enos. She shared that Ms. Enos is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and attended
Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She served as Chair for the Ka`u
CDP Steering Committee and is a past member of the Liquor Commission. Ms. Enos retired
from Queen Lili`uokalani Trust as the Community Building Facilitator. She brings a background
of extensive community service and volunteerism. If confirmed, she will serve a term ending
December 31, 2024.
Ms. Enos was present for Your Committee via Zoom. She explained that she would like to see
her community well-represented on the Ka`u CDPAC, and that she would bring a fair and
unbiased approach.
Committee Member Maile David voiced her support for Ms. Enos's nomination and thanked her
for continuing her service for Ka`u.
Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz praised Ms. Enos for her willingness to step up and serve
the community and voiced her support for her experience in mediation and facilitation.
The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable
recommendation and passed with nine "ayes."

Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 712, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Leina'ala Enos to the Ka`u
Community Development Plan Action Committee.
