A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ALOHA CLUB OF
HILO TO PURCHASE FOOD AND SUPPLIES FOR THE MEAL PROGRAM AT HALE ʻOLUEA CLUBHOUSE.
WHEREAS, the Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse (“Clubhouse”) is a branch of Clubhouse International, which has over 320 clubhouses in 34 countries; and
WHEREAS, the Clubhouse is a voluntary, psychosocial rehabilitation program for adults with mental health disabilities in East Hawai‘i that utilizes a unique rehabilitation format where
participants are “members” rather than clients, working with staff to foster participation through self-determination; and
WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to raise funds for the Clubhouse and its many vocational and educational programs; and
WHEREAS, the Clubhouse’s meal program provides healthy meals and snacks to its members that are receiving life-skills training and education; and
WHEREAS, due to the prolonged duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aloha Club of Hilo was unable to sponsor any fundraising events or activities to raise monies for the Clubhouse’s
programs, and is requesting financial assistance to purchase food and supplies for the meal program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that promote growth and learning in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Aloha Club of Hilo to purchase food and supplies for the meal program at Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
