Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Communication No. 720,reports as follows:
Communication No. 720,transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated
March 28, 2022, nominates Cayla Crivello of District 8 to the Public Access, Open Space, and
Natural Resources Preservation Commission. If confirmed, Ms. Crivello would serve a term to end
on December 31, 2025.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome introduced the nominee. Ms. Crivello then
elaborated on her background, her intent with serving should she be confirmed, and her genealogical
connection to Kona.
Committee Members Holeka Goro Inaba, Maile Medeiros David, Rebecca Villegas,
Ashley L. Kierkiewicz, Herbert M. "Tim"Richards III, and Heather L. Kimball as well as
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder all provided comments in support of Ms. Crivello's
nomination.Ms. Villegas and Mr. Richards both highlighted the importance of a new generation
stepping up to serve in government.
Pursuant to Section 2-215(a), Hawai`i County Code,there shall be a Public Access, Open Space, and
Natural Resources Preservation Commission which shall be appointed by the Mayor with the
approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 720, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Cayla Crivello to the Public Access, Open Space,
and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
