11 0F.11 <br /> *se rt i1�1GJ•* c <br /> STATECOUNTY OF HAWAFI <br /> grE•Of•NPS <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 401 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `O AKU`U KE <br /> KAHUA COMMUNITY CENTER TO PURCHASE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND <br /> HYGIENE PRODUCTS FOR COMMUNITY CARE PACKAGES. <br /> WHEREAS, `O Maku`u ke Kahua Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that was formed to perpetuate Hawaiian culture, values, and tradition through <br /> farming, education, and community projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, according to the 2020 Kilauea Recovery and Resilience Plan, 78% of Puna <br /> households are ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained while Employed) and in poverty, <br /> facing economic hardships as well as homelessness; and <br /> WHEREAS, `O Maku`u ke Kahua Community Center is partnering with a group of Puna <br /> `opio (youth)who have initiated a community project to provide care packages to those in need <br /> by organizing a school-supply drive to ensure Puna elementary students are equipped for the <br /> upcoming school year and a hygiene-products drive to create personal-care kits for individuals <br /> experiencing homelessness; and <br /> WHEREAS, `O Maku`u ke Kahua Community Center is requesting funds to purchase <br /> school supplies and personal hygiene products to support this grassroots, `opio-led initiative to <br /> provide care packages to the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> programs, events, and activities that improve the quality of life for community members and <br /> enhance opportunities for students; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to `O Maku`u ke Kahua Community Center to purchase school <br /> supplies and hygiene products for community care packages. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
