I <br /> aaat710-"+w a <br /> Zr�iliG, I <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •!'4 re ro. <br /> ,,TE OF,nt,PP I <br /> i <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 40' 22 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ARC OF HILO <br /> FOR ITS IST ANNUAL KING KAMEHAEA'S AWESOME ATHLETES INCLUSIVE <br /> CANOE RACE. <br /> 'i <br /> WHEREAS, the ARC of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves people <br /> with intellectual and developmental disabilities, since 1954; and <br /> WHEREAS, the King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race is a safe <br /> and inclusive paddling event to be held in Hilo Bay that welcomes individuals with disabilities to <br /> participate in a culturally and historically significant sporting activity; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 1St Annual King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe <br /> Race event will be held on June 12, 2022, at Hilo Bayfront Beach and is made possible through <br /> partnerships with `Ghana Wa`a Laulima, OSMD Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Hawaii <br /> Island Visitors and Convention Bureau, Access Surf Hawaii, and countless paddlers and <br /> volunteers; and <br /> WHEREAS,the ARC of Hilo is requesting funds to assist with various expenses to host <br /> its 1St Annual King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race event, such as <br /> refreshments,t-shirts, trophies, and medals; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide <br /> array of services and programs that meet the needs of the Hawaii Island community and is <br /> supportive of this initiative to provide recreational opportunities to those with disabilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the ARC of Hilo for its 1St Annual King <br /> Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race event at Hilo Bayfront Beach. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
