a+4�f0 <br /> COUNTYF HAWAIII `* STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> +T. �Ma e•®T <br /> 'rTyr'Q'F•N�.q4 <br /> 1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 404 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE MERRIE <br /> MONARCH FESTIVAL FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO <br /> THE 59TH ANNUAL MERRIE MONARCH FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, The Merrie Monarch Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> perpetuates the memory and legacy of King David Kaldkaua through an internationally <br /> renowned annual celebration of hula and Hawaiian culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was cancelled in 2020 <br /> and modified in 2021, thus creating a disruption in the normal financial structure and operations <br /> to sustain the event; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Merrie Monarch Festival Organizing Committee developed a rigorous <br /> safety guideline and another modified plan that allowed for a limited audience experience for the <br /> 2022 Merrie Monarch Festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Merrie Monarch Festival is requesting funds as a reimbursement for <br /> expenses incurred from conducting the 59th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival, which included, <br /> but not limited to, cleaning supplies and equipment, stage design and construction, safety <br /> supplies and equipment, safety monitoring services, insurance fees, decorations, back-up <br /> generators, tents, and canopies; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide <br /> variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness <br /> of Hawai`i's rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Merrie Monarch Festival for a reimbursement of <br /> expenses related to the 59th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
