HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 406 Draft 01 2020-2022 s� Jp<Vf®s k,� I C y COUNTY OF HAWAIIHAWAIIISTATE OF HAWAFI 3 ° 1TE O�•HP,.Br RESOLUTION NO. 406 22 i A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA YOUTH FOUNDATION,INC., TO SUPPORT THE 2022 HONOKA`A WESTERN WEEK FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, Hdmakua Youth Foundation, Inc. (HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to open doorways to the world by sharing life skills rooted in the Hawaiian values of kuleana, aloha, laulima, and mahalo; and WHEREAS, HYF, Honoka`a Business Association, and the Department of Parks and Recreation are working together to coordinate the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival; and WHEREAS, the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival is a celebration of Paniolo culture that fosters a true sense of community,tradition, and pride, which will be held from May 21 to May 30, 2022; and WHEREAS, events and activities during the week-long festival include, arts and crafts, food booths, talent competition, performances, rodeo, historical photo displays, and Paniolo music; and WHEREAS, this annual event has been attended by thousands of Hawaii Island residents and visitors and has increased economic tourism for Hawaii Island by promoting Honoka`a town as a tourist destination; and WHEREAS,the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival will educate and bring awareness of the rich and diverse cultural resources of Hawaii Island, making positive contributions to the quality of life for its residents and visitors; and i I WHEREAS, HYF is requesting funds to help with tents, a stage, benches, entertainment, I special-duty police presence, equipment rental, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with the event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it falls within its Culture and Education program to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities and programs in culture, art, history, and humanities; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT.RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hdmdkua Youth Foundation, Inc., to help fund the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival_ a } BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby 1 transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $2,000 CREDITED TO: 010.500.5503.02 Department of Parks and Recreation $2,000 P&R Adm OCE 115 Misc. Contract Services (HYF - 2022 Honoka`a Western Week Festival) 2 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
