A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA CULTURAL
GROUP TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE
2022 KING KAMEHAMEHA DAY CELEBRATION PARADE AND HO‘OLAULE‘A IN KONA.
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating native Hawaiian culture and collaborates with groups that
stabilize, restore, and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is partnering with the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade Committee to assist with the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and the ho‘olaule‘a,
which will occur on June 11, 2022, in the historic Kailua Village; and
WHEREAS, the ho‘olaule‘a will be held at Hulihe‘e Palace and will feature cultural and educational events for the community including lei displays, palace tours, and demonstrations of
other cultural practices; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds for website development, advertisement, and rental fees to use Hulihe‘e Palace for the ho‘olaule‘a; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide educational activities and community events in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the King Kamehameha
Day Celebration Parade; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hale Mua Cultural Group to assist with expenses related to the 2022 King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and ho‘olaule‘a in Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
