A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA CULTURAL
GROUP TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE KAMEHAMEHA DAY PARADE AND HOʻOLAULEʻA IN KONA.
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating native Hawaiian culture and collaborates with groups that
stabilize, restore, and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is partnering with King Kamehameha Celebration Parade Committee to assist with the celebration of the Kamehameha Day Parade and the Hoʻolauleʻa at
the Huliheʻe Palace, that will be occurring on June 11, 2022, in historic Kailua Village; and
WHEREAS, the Hoʻolauleʻa will feature cultural and educational events for the community including lei displays, palace tours, and demonstrations of other cultural practices; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds to assist with expenses related to the Kamehameha Day parade and Hoʻolauleʻa including security and horseback marshals for traffic
control and public safety; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide educational activities and community events in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the King Kamehameha
Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hale Mua Cultural Group to assist with expenses relating to the Kamehameha Day parade and Hoʻolauleʻa in Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
