A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HĀMĀKUA YOUTH FOUNDATION,
INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS KEIKI PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Hāmākua Youth Foundation, Inc., (HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide Hāmākua youth the support and guidance essential to positive growth by
opening doorways to the world and sharing life skills rooted in the Hawaiian values of kuleana, aloha, laulima (working together), and mahalo; and
WHEREAS, HYF operates a Keiki Program offering holistic support to youth and families through academic and enrichment programs serving over 30 youths ages 12 and under; and
WHEREAS, the Keiki Program provides homework assistance, skills development in reading and math, hands-on activities in the Keiki Garden, and place-based, multicultural learning opportunities;
and
WHEREAS, HYF is requesting funds to purchase supplies and materials; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports community-based programs that promote education, health, safety, and well-being in drug-free and alcohol-free venues; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hāmākua Youth Foundation, Inc., to assist with expenses related to its Keiki Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
