Home My WebLink AboutRES 410 Draft 01 2020-2022 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE PEOPLES ADVOCACY FOR TRAILS HAWAII WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawai‘i County Code states, “nonprofit organization” means an organization organized for other than profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, the Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai‘i (PATH), which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above, will expand the Bikeshare system within the County of Hawai‘i; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works wishes to provide $726,000 to the Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai‘i; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used towards the expansion of the Hawai‘i Island Bikeshare system in Hawai‘i County by increasing the number of stations in Kailua-Kona and Hilo; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Department of Public Works is authorized to provide a grant of $726,000 to the Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai‘i to expand the Hawai‘i Island Bikeshare system. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Department of Public Works.
