Kimball, Vice Chair COUNTYCLERK Committee On Finance COUNTY OFIA County Council RECEIVED County of Hawaii I ' - y Date APR RE: Testimony in support of Bill 152 Dear Chair Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder, Vice Chair Kimball, and Members of the County Council, I would like to submit this leiter and written testimony in support of Bill 152, on behalf of HPM Building Supply. As proposed, Bill 152 will AMEND CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 13, DIVISION 3, SECTION 2- 75 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO THE COUNTY HOUSING PROGRAM REVOLVING FUND. As the president of a locally managed, 100% employee-owned company, with over 400 employees across the state and 315 who reside and work on Hawaii Island, I have the responsibility to speak for our local community. With the housing crisis on the rise, the need for affordable housing is at a critical level especially with the uncertainty of the current economic environment we are all experiencing. As proposed, Bill 152 will expand the use of the Housing Program Revolving Fund and provide the necessary financial resources to have a sustainable impact on our community's housing crisis. Further, Bill 152, will establish more clearly defined income levels to be referenced with respect to the application of the provisions of the County Code.
