Aloha County Council Members,
My name is Maile Akamu, my daughter Teige Lorenzo-Akamu is a senior at Kohala High School.As this year's
chairman of the KHS Project Graduation, I humbly ask that you approve Resolution 374-22 for our 2022 Kohala
Project Grad night. Being employed at Kohala High School for the past 20 years I know what HS teens did on
graduation night back then and the results at times were devastating.
This event is mostly operated by parent volunteers looking for a safe, fun filled alcohol and drug-free environment
for our seniors on graduation night. We aim to protect our graduates when they are most vulnerable so they can
create memories with their classmates that they can cherish for a lifetime.A wish list was created via a survey
that was sent out to all seniors. They select their choice of food, music and activities. Next, the Parent Project
Grad committee rallies to do what we can to raise the funds so we can make this event successful for our Seniors.
